Queen City staff is aware of and are monitoring the potential for a winter storm arriving to Charlotte on Saturday. At this point, we are not in a position to make any decisions regarding the cancellation of the Queen City Classic and are planning that the event will go on as planned.
The decision has been made to postpone all QCC1 divisions to QCC2,
QCC2 has been adjusted to allow for teams to register until Monday morning at 10a.
Hotels - the hotels are aware of this change. As QCC1 has been cancelled teams should get full refunds but will have to contact the hotel directly and ultimately, it's the hotel's decision on refunds. EM2 is working with the hotels regarding booking for next weekend. Stay tuned on that.
Spectator Passes - Refunds for spectator passes will hopefully be processed tonight and/or tomorrow.
FOR TEAMS MOVING FROM QCC1 to QCC2:
* The status of teams in AES will be either ACCEPTED of PAID NEED HOTEL ROOMS. Actual entry fee amounts and notes will be transferred in the next day or so. Again, being "ACCEPTED" is all you need at this point to know you're good to go.
* Note from EM2 Housing regarding the booking process for next weekend:
EM2 Housing will be reaching out directly to re‑registered teams to coordinate rebooking hotel accommodations for the January 30–February 1 dates. Please note that some hotels from Weekend 1 may not be available; however, every effort is being made to accommodate teams in their originally selected hotel whenever possible.
Once EM2 Housing has attempted to contact all re‑registered teams, any remaining inventory will be made live in AES on a first‑come, first‑served basis and will remain available through the weekend.
Due to the fast turnaround for next weekend, rebooking will move quickly. Once EM2 Housing contacts you and inventory is secured, parents and travelers will need to complete their reservations promptly.
Additional instructions and timelines will be shared at the time of rebooking. Thank you for your patience and support during this transition.
Clarification on the hotel policies regarding cancellations from EM2 Housing:
Most hotels will allow cancellations 48 hours prior to arrival and some won’t. Every hotel is different and since the event is still happening and not cancelled, they may have to pay a penalty. They can state it’s due to weather in their area is preventing them from driving and see if the hotel will cancel without penalty. Ultimately, it's each hotel's discretion.
*WAVE assignments will remain as announced for the original divisions in QCC2. Every effort will be made to keep the QCC1 divisions the same but it's too early to know exactly how that will play out.

If weather conditions or extenuating circumstances related to the event become a concern, updates will be published here and in social media.
Should the event be canceled or interrupted due to acts or threats of war, terrorism, weather, a health risk alert, or other extenuating force majeure circumstances, a team will be refunded their respective full entry fee less $50 for fixed event expenses and less any paid late registration or division move fees.
